Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

Do I have to consign items in order to help and shop early?

A.

No, many of our volunteers are new mothers who have nothing they wish to sell yet.  They help in order to shop early!

Q.

Do I have to use children’s size hangers for smaller size clothing?

A.

No.  Even newborn size clothing can fit onto regular size hangers.

Q. I can’t find hangers.  What do you suggest?
A.

Dry cleaners are usually more than happy to give away recycled hangers.  But during “consignment season” their supply may be limited.  It’s best to ask them during other times of the year.  Discount and dollar stores usually sell hangers as well.  But we suggest you use old wire hangers from your closet.

Q. I have short sleeve items I would like to bring to the fall/winter sale OR I have long sleeve items I would like to bring to the spring/summer sale.  Is this OK?
A.

We suggest that you consider what most children wear in the heat of the summer or the coldest days of the winter.  For example, a long sleeve dress shirt is fine for summer, but consider fabrics as well.  No velvets or heavy fabrics would be comfortable in 95 degree weather.  Likewise, short sleeves are fine for winter, but lightweight fabrics usually don’t provide enough warmth during frigid temperatures.  Use your best judgment with the items you bring in for our seasonal sales.  Consider what most parents dress most children in, not necessarily what you dress your children in.  If you have items in question, it’s often best to wait a few months and bring those items in later when you can realize a better profit on those particular items.

Q.

Why do you suggest that we bring a laundry basket and a beach towel to the private sales?

A.

The laundry basket makes it more manageable for you to carry your items around the sale.  Unfortunately, we do not have room for shopping carts!  And our experienced shoppers use beach towels to place their selections upon, to keep the items off the floor.  The use of towels also ensures that others know individual piles belong to specific shoppers!  Women also sit on the beach towels as they sort through their items while making their selections.

Q.

I don’t understand how the clearance sale discounts are calculated.

A.

The best way to explain is to give two examples.  First, if you have a $10.00 item which is circled in red (meaning you DO NOT want it discounted the second weekend), you expect to receive $6.00 for it.  We discount this item during clearance 25%, but the discount is taken out of WeeRuns’ profit.  You are still paid the entire $6.00.  Next, if you have a $20.00 item not circled in red (meaning you are willing for the price to be discounted 50% during the second weekend), it would have already been reduced to $10.00.  Again, you expect to be paid $6.00 for this item, which is what you will be paid.  WeeRuns sells all non-circled items at 70% discount during its Clearance Sale.  In effect, WeeRuns sells the items and pays the full price to its consignors, effectively making no profit on any of the items sold during this sale period.

Q. What exactly is donated automatically after the sale?
A.

We donate all unsold shoes and bin items at the conclusion of the sale.  In addition, items in the New Mother/Bed and Bath area and toys (games, books, videos, puzzles, backpacks, lunchboxes, purses, etc.) with an original price of $5.00 or less will be donated automatically.  These items are donated to charitable organizations, which vary from sale to sale.  Hanging items (clothing) priced $5 and under will be organized by sex and size and be available for you to go through, should you wish, at item pickup.  We organize your unsold hanging items (clothing), furniture, equipment and toys priced $6.00 and above and will have these items ready for you on pick-up day. At that time, you may choose to donate any of your other items, as we’ll have a designated area for those donations.

Q. How can I help spread the word about the WeeRuns sale?
A.

We have extra postcards that we’d love to give to you.  You can place bundles of cards at dance studios, hair salons, gymnastics classes, anywhere mothers frequent.  We also have a flyer tab on our website.  Please print one and post!

Q. Are there limits on the number of items I can consign?
A.

There is no minimum number and no limit on the number of items you can consign.  We do, however, have limits on certain sizes.
Maternity - limit of 5 items
Seasonal shoes - limit of 8 pair
Newborn through 18 months - limit of 10 items on hangers in girls and in boys
(this does not include any new items with tags)

Q. Do you accept jeans at both seasonal sales?
A.

No, we only accept and sell jeans at our fall/winter sale events.
